Start of the Greenway Project - Phase I
What's next for the Charleston Medical District?
Important changes are in the works in downtown Charleston, where city leaders have given the go-ahead for a new medical district. It will mean more green space, walking areas, parking, signs and easier access to the Medical University of South Carolina, Roper Hospital and Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
Some changes will occur very quickly, as leaders of the greenway effort encourage people to see the affected section of Doughty Street in a new light. The immediate changes give the community a sense of the coming improvements to the area. It will be a place of peace and relaxation, which is safe for the many people who now walk this area every day.
The Charleston Medical District Greenway is located at 105 Doughty St. from President Street to Courtenay Drive.
